Truce, James Joyce?
James Joyce... today is the day I choose to forgive you. Or at least decide that you're not the devil for 24 hours in a desire to celebrate my own Irish roots. My first attempt at a limerick (not dirty) to memorialize my experience with Ulysses... my version of the proverbial olive branch. There once was a smart man from Dublin. Whose words were so weird and confluffin' The world together agreed His work was a need And years later Bear Allen was done-in. Move over, Yeats! A

My awesome new mug!
I'm currently drinking my Tazo Awake tea out of the most awesome mug! Banned books FTW! In-laws rock! (although I'm dying that Ulysses is the one right where the handle meets the mug. Why you gotta follow me everywhere, James Joyce?!)
And don't forget... Banned Book Week takes place from September 21st-27th! #bannedbook #holiday #ulysses #jamesjoyce

Booknerd Santa makes another trip down the chimney!
My wonderful friend Sharon is one of most treasured PIC (partners in crime. Go watch Roles Models right now, you slackers!) when it comes to book-learnin'. Although I believe I'm pretty passionate when it comes to reading... one short conversation with her and I'm all revved up about the glory that is the written word and I usually walk away with another 300-or-so must reads added to my list.
So I was so touched (and excited. BearAllen loves her some prezzies!) when Shar

Christmas Haul!
I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! I poured lots of Captain Morgan into my eggnog with my father-in-law, I ate my weight in my mother-in-law's famous cinnamon buns and I received gift cards that will enable me to continue my Starbucks and Sephora addictions.I also got some awesome book-y presents from people who know me well. Figured I'd share! And as a bonus, here are a few pics of Lorelai opening her own bookish gifts from Santa Claus! I think they were a hit (th

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Warm jammies, some (crappy virgin) eggnog and excitement. That's all you needed to make a magical Christmas Eve as a kid. But don't leave out the most important element... your all-time-favorite Christmas book read to you by a beloved adult. An adult who was (as you know now) trying desperately to get you wound down enough to finally go to sleep so they could finish placing your presents under the tree just-so/finish wrapping your presents with paper bags and staples/finis

Go away, I'm reading!
My beautiful friend Kathleen recently called this awesomeness to my attention. Erin Bowman, Sarah Enniand Tracey Neithercott have joined forces and gifted the world with these charmingly snarky printable book jackets to warn the talkers in your life "back up... important reading in progress!" As someone who tends to get annoyed when I'm lost in a fictional world and some idiot wants to talk about Carrie Underwood's nuanced performance in The Sound of Music Live (now, if you

Happy (belated) Halloween from Lorelai!
Okay, I know this isn't technically book or Gilmore girls related (besides the fact that her name is Lorelai), but I have to show you Little Miss L's Halloween costume! #holiday #baby

Even better than the tooth fairy
My friend, Nicole, recently shared the most amazing Halloween costume idea with me. However, that is way too good a costume to waste on a stupid little girl. This is pour moi! #holiday
