I think in preparation for episode two, which is rife with such heavy-hitters as War & Peace and Anna Karenina, the fates (or Amy Sherman-Palladino) chose to gave me a break with the next book on the list. Therefore, for our final book in episode one... we begin The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen.
