"There is more than one way to burn a book. And the world is full of people running about with lit matches"
From September 22nd-28th, the American Library Association celebrates the freedom to read with Banned Books Week. The silencing of divergent ideas has long been an illness of society. An ignorant body is a peaceful body... or so politicians and leaders throughout history have been led to believe. With that striving for ignorance has come the criminalization of books that challenged the everyday norms and mores... asking readers to think past what they are told.
Do your part this week in fighting censorship and pick up a copy of some of the most famously banned books. Below is a list of books banned from 2012-2013. Yes, this is still occurring today! Does that surprise you? Then TAKE ACTION!
