The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

The Ocean at the End of the Lane.jpg

Everyone loves a good fairy tale, but authors tend to only share fairy tales with the very young. Adults are, not unsurprisingly, neglected in a genre that was likely their first exposure to the art of storytelling. And over time, I think that lack of magic and fairy tales in an adult's life tends to erode the imagination and faith in the unseen. What I love about Neil Gaiman is that he does not write adults off as undeserving of whimsy . In The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Gaiman allows grown ups to be asborbed by the unlikely and gives us an opportunity to exercise a blind faith that so many of us have squashed for decades.

As Einstein once said: "If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be very intelligent, read them more fairy tales." We need to read those fairy tales too!

Synposis:

A brilliantly imaginative and poignant fairy tale from the modern master of wonder and terror, The Ocean at the End of the Lane is Neil Gaiman's first new novel for adults since his #1 New York Times bestseller Anansi Boys.

This bewitching and harrowing tale of mystery and survival, and memory and magic, makes the impossible all too real...
