If you remember, Alexis played opposite Vincent last season as Beth Dawes. Apparently their on-screen affair turned to off-screen romance. Rory Gilmore... in the 60s?
It reminds me so much of this episode ("That Damn Donna Reed" S1, E14)... Alexis Bledel has that wholesome, fresh-faced look which would've done really well in television in the 60s. And now she has her shot at time travel.
