Crack kills, kiddo!

I've been unfaithful to The Black, White & Read Book Challenge. And here is photographic evidence of our tryst...

Because this blog is all about books and reading, I figured I'd let you in on what else I'm reading, even if it's not necessarily Gilmore-related.

I have joined not one... but TWO book clubs recently (because apparently, I'm an idiot). The first book club is actually two weeks away from it's second meeting. The first book was My Antonia by Willa Cather. After reading this, I was glad to have read Mencken's autobiography... as it gave me a further insight into the woman behind the story.

The second book for this particular group is Watership Down by Richard Adams. I'm looking forward to reading this book, as it's one my dad always tried to encourage me to read. If you know me, you know I have a bit of an issue with books and movies where the animals speak... but I'll give this one a fair shot.

The first book for my second book club is The Dante Club by Matthew Pearl. I remember beginning this book yeeeears ago, but something came up and I never picked it up again. I trust the literary opinion of the person that made this particular selection... so I'm also excited to begin this one.

On top of those, I also have to re-read The Hunger Games... as the movie opens this coming Friday (WAHOO!) It might be classified as Young Adult fiction, but I promise that it is excellent literature. In fact, Husband is currently making his way through Catching Fire (the second book in the series) and is excited about seeing the movie on Friday. If you aren't so sure about The Hunger Games trilogy, the fact that Husband reads and LOVES it should tell you that you really shouldn't write it off so quickly.

Oh, and I'm also reading Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (just finished Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone). But this is my "Hair Drying Book". Yes, I have a hair drying book. Don't judge! My hair drying process is so long that I find myself sitting in the same position (with my head upside down) for awhile. Might as well get some reading done while I'm there!

I guess this post is my way of telling you that, if you don't see a review for The Age of Innocence soon, there is a valid excuse.

(And after re-reading this post... I realize I have a real problem.)
