Is that a brand of scotch?
Our first book in "The Third Lorelai" is the play Glengarry Glen Ross by David Mamet. So... uh... I have nothing clever to say because I have no idea what the play is about. But Young Still Hot Alec Baldwin (you know, before he started calling his daughter a "piggie") was in the movie adaptation, so I have high hopes!
P.S. You can't tell me what to do, Baldwin! #glengarryglenross #davidmamet

File under: Odd Timing. My friend Lauren just informed me (shortly after I hit "Publish" on my last post, but before she read it) that today is Alaska Young Day! Those of you who have read the book will understand the significance of January 10th. And those of you who haven't... well, what the fuck are you doing?! GO READ THE BOOK! Happy Alaska Young Day to my fellow Nerdfighters! #lookingforalaska #johngreen

Looking for Alaska by John Green
I recently fell down a Green brothers k-hole on the internet. If you are not familiar with them, John and Hank Green compromise "VlogBrothers". They are responsible for such YouTube gems as The Lizzie Bennett Diaries and CrashCourse... and too many wasted (but totally worth it) hours of BearAllen's life. However, one half of VlogBrothers is the author of a "little known" book called The Fault in Our Stars. On the recommendation of a trusted friend, I decided to begin my v

First... a confession of my lame-itude:
I began episode 17 on August 16th, 2013.
I'm beginning episode 18 on January 7th, 2014.
Let's just let the patheticness of that fact wash over us for a second.

Our next episode (s1:e18) is titled "The Third Lorelai". In this episode, Richie Cunningham's mom (or Aunt Marilyn if you want to keep this Gg-centric) travels from London to visit her son (Richard) and his family. "Trix" is a bit of

Happy Birthday, Zora Neale Hurston!
In my first journey to Google for the day, I was confronted with this fantastic Google Doodle Today we celebrate the 123rd birthday of the prolific American folklore queen, Zora Neale Hurston.
Mostly known for 1937 novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston's writing is at once soulful, painful and beautiful. I recently read Their Eyes Were Watching God (at the insistent recommendation of a friend whose taste I trust implicitly) for the first time and absolutely fell in l

Booknerd Santa makes another trip down the chimney!
My wonderful friend Sharon is one of most treasured PIC (partners in crime. Go watch Roles Models right now, you slackers!) when it comes to book-learnin'. Although I believe I'm pretty passionate when it comes to reading... one short conversation with her and I'm all revved up about the glory that is the written word and I usually walk away with another 300-or-so must reads added to my list.
So I was so touched (and excited. BearAllen loves her some prezzies!) when Shar
