Livermore Library needs spell check
I have a friend who recently moved from Oakland to Livermore, California so she's in the process of discovering the area and found something awesome she was kind enough to share with me... the Livermore Public Library! There's this awesome bike rack... And this cafe... And these amazing stone benches... But while the mural in the middle of those stone benches is undeniably beautiful, It's inspired some controversy in the town of Livermore. Here's why: Whomp whomp! $6,000, ano
Why Libraries Matter
I have all the feels from this 10 minute video. http://www.theatlantic.com/video/index/371084/why-libraries-matter/ #library

Possibly coming soon to a neighborhood near you... Little Free Libraries!
In September, Husband and I moved to (what I'm assuming will be) our forever home. It's perfect for us, in a beautiful neighborhood in the town we wanted to be in. It is exactly where I want Lorelai's childhood (well, the idyllic one in my head. She's only 11 months... I still have Pinterest-rific parenting dreams. Sue me.) to take place.
And now I'm kicking myself that we purchased a house at the very end of a cul-de-sac (plural is cul-de-sac, not culs-de-sac. Never f

A new obsession
I am currently in the process of looking into programs to pursue my Masters of Library Sciences (and I'm askeered. It's been over ten years since I was last in school *GULP*). I happened upon this gem of a tumblr page recently and am completely smitten.
Enjoy!
I Work at a Public Library
The author of this blog also has a book currently available for pre-order from Amazon (release date: July 31, 2014)! #library #fun

Blue!
My local library just posted this on Facebook. I don't even want to know how often someone comes into the library with this exact request. This photo cracked me up! #library

"You are not alone, I am here with you..."
Oh Mental Floss, how you make my life better with the fact of your very existence.
11 Ridiculousy Overdue Library Books That Were Finally Returned (and it probably speaks volumes... get it, get it... that "library fines" was already a tag I could use when publishing this post) #library

"Your work comforts the disturbed and disturbs the comfortable."
Last night, I had the incredible pleasure to hear Wally Lamb speak at a local library. With the release of his new book We Are Water, he was approximately 36 cities into a 40 city tour when he finally made it back to his home state. But even with that kind of crazy schedule, he was still amazing.
I was able to ask Wally (we're likethis... I can totally call him "Wally") a question about his experience in reading the character of Orion Oh in the audiobook version of We Ar

Speak of the devil!
I just registered to hear Wally Lamb speak at the Ferguson Library in Stamford, CT on Dec 5th! My friend, Rebecca just called the event to my attention and I am SO in!
If you're interested (and located in Connecticut), join me- wont ya?!

Sir Reads-A-Lot... Junior!
As I'm in a new town, I needed to get a new library card. I decided to use this excuse for Lorelai's first trip to the library.
She, of course, had to come correct. And what better onesie to wear to your first library outing than this?! And off we went! The librarian (aka The Person With My Dream Job) was very friendly so I just had to share with her the awesomeness of Lorelai's onesie. I'd like to believe she was impressed. Here are some "in the stacks" action shots.

And speaking of Sylvia Plath...
... The Library Bandit wins again!
On December 1, 2012, I posted this... announcing that I was starting The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath. Chances are, I borrowed it from the library at least a few days prior to this post.
On March 6, 2013, I finally posted my review. Hey! I was 7 months pregnant and in that looking-at-the-clock-at-8:15-trying-to-decide-if-it's-acceptable-for-a-32-year-old-woman-to-go-to-bed-before-9pm phase. I would lay down in bed, literally g
